Terms of service

The short, honest version of the rules. Plain language, no traps.

Who provides the service

The MatchMyIdea service is provided by MatchMyIdea LLC. References to "MatchMyIdea," "we," "us," or "our" in these terms mean MatchMyIdea LLC. Questions about these terms can be sent to hello@matchmyidea.com.

What the service is

MatchMyIdea finds people. You describe your idea or challenge in plain words, and we search public professional sources for people with directly relevant experience. Each delivered match includes source-backed information, relevant links, and drafted outreach and, when available, a confirmed professional email.

For the self-serve matching service, MatchMyIdea finds potential matches and you contact them yourself, in your own name. For requests submitted through Introductions, MatchMyIdea may facilitate an introduction when there is interest on both sides. Any transaction-specific fees or other terms for an Introduction engagement will be agreed separately before they apply.

What we don't guarantee

We stand behind the relevance and evidence of each match, but we can't control other people. We don't guarantee that anyone you contact will reply, agree to talk, or work with you. People change jobs and contact details change, so a professional email is provided when available rather than promised for every match.

Acceptable use

We can suspend accounts that break these rules.

Returned matches and refunds

Credits reserved for matches that are not delivered return automatically to your balance. If a delivered match is the wrong person, a duplicate, or has unusable contact information, reporting the issue restores that match credit or your free-match allowance. Other relevance concerns and cash-refund requests are reviewed by a person.

A cash refund and a returned match credit are different. Match credits may be restored automatically in the situations described above; cash refunds are handled separately through MatchMyIdea support at hello@matchmyidea.com. We'd rather fix a problem than argue about one.

Intellectual property

MatchMyIdea and its website, software, design, branding, and other service materials are owned by MatchMyIdea LLC or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These terms do not transfer ownership of the service or its materials to you.

You retain ownership of information and content you submit. You grant MatchMyIdea a limited license to host, process, reproduce, and use that content only as reasonably necessary to provide, secure, maintain, and improve the service and to comply with law.

Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available." MatchMyIdea does not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that every search will produce a match, that contact information will remain current, that a person will respond, or that an introduction or match will result in any transaction or particular outcome.

MatchMyIdea relies in part on public information and third-party services, and information about people, organizations, roles, and contact details can change.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MatchMyIdea LLC and its officers, members, employees, and agents will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues, business opportunities, goodwill, or data arising from or relating to the service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MatchMyIdea LLC's total aggregate liability arising from or relating to the service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to MatchMyIdea during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or (b) $100.

These limitations do not apply to liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded.

Termination

You may stop using the service at any time. MatchMyIdea may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to address a violation of these terms, fraud or abuse, a security risk, legal or regulatory requirements, nonpayment, or conduct that could harm MatchMyIdea, the service, or others.

Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including provisions concerning intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and governing law, will continue to apply after termination.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from or relating to these terms or the service that is not otherwise resolved by agreement will be brought in the state or federal courts with jurisdiction in Travis County, Texas, and each party consents to that jurisdiction and venue.

Changes and disputes

The service will keep changing as it improves. When these terms change materially, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page. If we ever have a disagreement, contact us first through the contact page. Most problems turn out to be misunderstandings that a short email solves.

Your data

How we collect and handle your data is covered separately in the privacy policy. From your account page you can export your data, delete individual searches, or delete your account entirely. If you searched without an account, email hello@matchmyidea.com from the address you used and we'll take care of it by hand.

A note on legal review

As of the effective date above, these terms are the accurate, plain-language rules we actually operate by, but they have not yet been through formal legal review. They'll be revised when that review is complete.
